Resolutions honor Coffee EMS employees

ATLANTA, GA (WALB) -

Information from the GA House of Representatives-

Ambrose State Representative Chuck Sims  is sponsoring House Resolutions 1249 and 1250 to honor the lives of Teresa Davis and Randall Whiddon,who were killed last June when their ambulance collided with a tractor-trailer.  

"My heart goes out to the families, who are grieving the tragic loss of these two heroes," said Rep. Sims. "These brave medics died in the line of duty, serving the citizens of Coffee County."

Davis was a former dispatcher for Ben Hill County 911 and EMT with regional EMS in Atkinson County.  She worked with Coffee Regional EMS since 2002 and was a 14 year veteran of EMS.  Davis was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Axon, Georgia. 

Whiddon was the former director of the Turner County Fire Rescue Services and paramedic for the Coffee Regional Medical Center EMS and Irwin County EMS.  He was an active member of Dakota Baptist Church.

Representative Chuck Sims represents the citizens of District 169, which includes Bacon County and portions of Coffee and Jeff Davis counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 1996, currently serves on the Higher Education, Intragovernmental Coordination, State Planning & Community Affairs, and Ways & Means committees.

    About 8:00 Friday morning, a man went into the Lee County Walmart, walked around the store, and exposed himself to a woman, according to Lee County sheriff's officials.

    Lee County Fire Chief David Forrester said there were two people in the home, and they saw one person in the front yard.  Two people in the home were transported to Phoebe Putney.
