ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Technical College honored four finalists for their GOAL Student of the Year on Thursday.

A panel from the Chamber of Commerce chose Kristen Lord in the Medical Assisting program as the winner.

She will now compete in the regional competition and could compete at the state level in April.

"It is a great program and I'm glad the state can do this because our students do work hard and they're certainly worthy of the recognition," said GOAL Coordinator Joe Najjar. "And they're the best people to tell the story."

Albany Tech student Aamir Greene is the current Georgia GOAL Student of the year. He travels the state as an ambassador for technical college education.
