ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Darrel Ealum officially kicked off his campaign for the Georgia legislature Thursday.

The Dougherty County school board member was surrounded by his family today as he announced he's running for the House District 153 seat.

He's served on the school board for three years and believes he can bring a stronger voice to Atlanta.

"I'm going to bring the conversation," said Ealum. "I'm going to put the conversation on the table. I'm going to start talking about some things that are going to make a difference in Southwest Georgia. And I'm not hearing anybody else do that."

Fullerton plan to seek re-election. Former Dougherty County Commissioner Muarlene Edwards is also running for the seat. The primary election is May 20th.
