ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Effective Monday February 10, Holly Drive will be closed from Moultrie Road to Tarasavage Lane, according to Director of Engineering Bruce Maples.

The road needs to be closed due to the widening project that should take a maximum of 120 days.

Holly Drive will remain open from U.S. 19 (Liberty Bypass) to Tarasavage Lane. Local traffic will have access to their homes.

Officials say that Holly has been impeded by high water three times in the last year.   "We had to close the road completely three times this past year, due to high water.  Water encroaching over the road. We feel like once we get these box culverts in, raise the elevation of the road through there, we'll take care of this problem having to close this road," said Dougherty Co. Public Works Director Larry Cook.

Motorists are advised to use caution, reduce speed and follow detour signs.
