Albany restaurant heads to auction block

A former Albany restaurant now owned by the city will soon be sold to the highest bidder.

The city took possession of L'Jua's last year, but will auction it off on Feb. 12th. Assistant City Manager Lonnie Ballard said the building was appraised for $1.1 Million in 2012, and estimated the tax value at about $500,000.

Ballard said the city hopes to reclaim the $250,000 in Economic Development Funds tied into the building.  He said kitchen equipment still inside could draw investors attention to the upcoming auction.

Money from the building will go to the Community & Economic Development for public services and programs like providing affordable housing.

Rowell Auctions will begin the bidding at 10am on Feb. 12th.
