ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Groundhog Day is Sunday, and we do it a little differently in Albany. It's more like meerkat day, and you can join in.

Chehaw's Wild Animal Park doesn't have any groundhogs, so Asante will serve as the substitute.

If Asante sees his shadow on Sunday, we can look forward to an early spring. If not, we can expect more cold weather. Chehaw's Education Coordinator Jackie Endz said, "Our meerkats can do it better, so we decided that our meerkat was going to be our new prognosticator, and so far he is two for two. So we are hoping that on Sunday he will let us know. We will know exactly what to wear on Monday"

If you want to see if Asante sees his shadow... Be at Chehaw Sunday morning. Zookeepers will let him outside at 10 a.m.
