Valdosta Schools handled Winter storm well

E. Martin Roesch E. Martin Roesch

Valdosta City Schools' Superintendent is proud of the way the district handled the Winter weather.

School officials closely monitored the weather and were in constant contact with the city's EMA Director. The superintendent says their proactive approach helped keep students and staff safe.

"I think it was pretty smooth," said E. Martin Roesch, Valdosta City Schools Superintendent. "The city, county schools communicated and worked together. Not only that, we have a network of superintendents on our RESSA district and we were in constant communication with them as each one began to make decisions about whether or not to have school."

Roesch says staff will have to make up the two days schools were closed, but students likely will not.
