Nurses spent the night at Pheobe to ensure patient care

Posted: Updated:
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Doctors at Phoebe Putney say the closure of many offices and schools kept people off the roads and reduced injuries.

They say they didn't see a large increase in the number of patients, but they treated a few people who suffered minor injuries when they slipped on ice.

"You get a lot of musco skeletal injuries, people slipping and falling twisting their knees and ankles, and we have seen a few car accidents, this is an easy time of year that cars can slip on bridges," says James Sirleaf, a Emergency Physician at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Some nurses stayed overnight at the hospital to ensure there would be a full staff for today and patient care would continue as normal.
