Albany model airplane ordinance still up in the air

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

It's still legal to fly a remote controlled airplane in Albany, but that could soon change.

Monday, the Citizen's Advisory Committee reviewed a proposal that would restrict flying a model airplane in neighborhoods, parks and other populated areas.

Proponents say the planes have become a nuisance, especially around Hilsman park.  The ordinance would restrict flying above 400 feet and limit flying to designated areas.

The committee will revisit the issue at their next meeting on February 17th at the Government Center at 12pm.
