ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Water Gas and Light officials want to assure customers that linemen will be ready in case of power outages due to possible ice.

They say their system will detect most large power outages.

If your power goes out and you see power is also out around your neighborhood, officials say there is no need to call.

That will keep phone lines from becoming overwhelmed.

"If you are the only one on your block out, please do call us," said W.G.&L. Asst. General Manager Lorie Farkas. "Because it may be an isolated event. But with the storm they say is coming we'll most probably know that you are out."

Water Gas and Light officials say they are prepared to call in additional crews from other utility agencies if the power outages are too large for them to handle quickly.
