ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Propane is in high demand around the country this winter. Folks at Modern Gas in Albany say their phones are ringing off the hooks.

They got more than 70 calls just today from customers concerned about the cold weather coming in. Several customers told them they expect to turn on their gas logs or supplemental heaters for the first time in years. But officials urge customers not to panic if they see their gas tanks getting low.

"If you're below 10% you need to get it filled up ASAP, but if you've got 40% of gas in your propane tank you've got plenty to last until the weekend when it's going to warm back up to 70 degrees according to Chris," said Mark Holloway.

As other parts of the country experience a propane shortage, Modern Gas officials say they have enough supply to meet demand in our area.
