'Bodine' won't run for Commission chair again

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Dougherty County Commission Chairman Jeff 'Bodine' Sinyard will not seek re-election in the next Commission race.

Sinyard made the announcement Monday morning at the County Commission meeting.  He has served on the county commission for 15 years, Including 11 as Chairman.

Sinyard he's been struggling to decide whether to run again, but decided he needed to be closer with his family.

"It was important that I make a decision one way or the other to allow if I was gonna run let folks know, and if I wasn't to let folks know so the community would have time to rally behind the right person" Sinyard said.

Sinyard said it's been a privilege and honor to represent the community.

The Democratic and Republican primaries for the commission chairman race will be held in May.
