ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Cold weather, even snow, is predicted to hit South Georgia this week.

The weather was pleasant Sunday, but the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Dougherty, and surrounding counties, so its important to be prepared.

Workers at Lowe's say they don't see snow in the South very often, however they do carry some salt that can be used to break up ice.

"Its a lot easier to prevent the freeze ups, by buying a two dollar pipe insulation, rather than calling a plumber and spending at least a hundred dollars to get it fixed," says Dexstar Burns.

Pipe insulation is inexpensive and easy to install. If pipes burst, it can cost upwards of hundreds, even thousands of dollars to fix.
