MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

Law enforcement officials from around the state were recognized, Saturday for their efforts to keep our roadways safe.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving or "MADD" held their 6th annual Recognition Banquet Moultrie. Police officers were recognized for their hard work and dedication for keeping drunk drivers off the road. Different agencies were presented with plaques and recognized for the number DUI arrests made in 2013.

"Anything that I can do to reach out to people, especially young people to curb the idea of driving while impaired glad to do it and its part of our job. It's a mission of the Georgia State Patrol to help reduce the fatalities of drinking and driving," said Sgt. Russ Covington, Thomas County, GSP.

"We really appreciate their hard work. Out there at night time and the weekend. working to make the streets safer," said Gary Robinson.

Agencies from Macon to the Florida line were represented. The Air Evac lifeteam from Cordele was also present.
