LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

A Lee County church is serving a free hot meal on a cold day Saturday and they are inviting the whole community.

Folks at First Baptist Church of Leesburg were busy this afternoon preparing food and getting it ready for hundreds that will pour through the church's doors tomorrow to get some hot chili. This is the first time the church has held an event like this.  Organizers say they're having this to bring folks together.

"What we want to do is just provide something in our neighborhood in our community that we can come together, have a hot meal, just talk about what's going on," said JD McDaniel, organizer.

The church is also handing out grocery bags filled with canned goods for people who are in need. Saturday's lunch kicks off at noon and goes until 3 PM.
