DECATUR COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

A Decatur County woman is honored for helping bridge the gap between parents, teachers, and students. Gail Bouie was nominated by the assistant principal at West Bainbridge Elementary School because of her commitment to creating a positive environment for students, parents, and staff.

This isn't the first time a Decatur County parent has received a Georgia Parent Leadership award and they hope to continue the trend of excellence.

"After the closing of Lillian E. Williams Elementary School in Attapulgus, her and her husband came and they kind of bridged that gateway that helped the Attapulgus families and the Decatur County families to start working together," said assistant principal Deborah Brown.

Bouie and her husband also donated the furniture in the parent resource center.
