Celebrate National Peanut Butter Day with recipes

Joy Crosby, Director of Communications Joy Crosby, Director of Communications
TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

It's National Peanut Butter Day and the Georgia Peanut Commission is providing nutty recipes to help promote peanut butter.

The Georgia Peanut Commission is using social media to promote peanut butter recipes and nutritional facts that consumers can use to celebrate the day. They say peanut butter is full of protein and that eating peanuts can help reduce your risk of dying from heart disease or cancer by 20%.

"It's a really important day for people that live in Georgia because Georgia actually grows more than half of all the peanuts in the U.S. and a large portion of those peanuts do go into making peanut butter. So anytime that we can take a holiday to celebrate peanut butter then that's just an awesome day," said Joy Crosby.
