LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

The Lee County landfill will host a free day for their residents Saturday, but officials want to make sure you know all the requirements and what their landfill will accept.

The Lee County landfill will be open from 9 to 5 Saturday, and will accept inert materials and metals, including white appliances.

The Lee County landfill never accepts household garbage.  Inert materials like yard waste, limbs, and leaves and all metals up to 500 pounds will be free.

This is for residents, not businesses. You do need to bring a photo identification.

Lee County commissioners approved the free landfill day, the last Saturday of each month, to try to fight illegal dumping.
