District Attorney Greg Edwards has decided to upgrade charges to murder against a suspect after an Albany man, beaten and robbed in August, died Tuesday.
68-year old Raymond Tilley was attacked outside the Dinner Bell restaurant on Clark Avenue where he worked. Edwards said results from a medical forensic investigation concluded that Tilley's death was a homicide.
"In that light we anticipate that we will be issuing warrants and that we will be bringing murder charges in relation to the death of Mr. Raymond Tilley in this particular matter," Edwards.
Prosecutors are preparing warrants to charge 19 year old Andrew Gadson with murder, as well as aggravated assault, and robbery.
Police say Gadson beat Tilley in the head with a metal pipe then stole two guns from his truck.
The D.A. said after murder charges are filed, he will take Andrew Gadson's case before the Grand Jury for indictment. Gadson is being held in the Dougherty County jail. Tilley's funeral will be held Saturday.
