Hit and run suspect has first court appearance

Gary Potter had his first court appearance Friday morning, after he was arrested in connection with a double hit and run.

Potter is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery.

Albany Police said their 911 call center received word that Potter was at the Albany Auto Auction on Silica Drive.

Last Friday, 27-year-old Jessica Paris was hit twice by a white Chevrolet Malibu outside Coach's Bar and Grill off Dawson Road. Police said that  Potter was driving that Malibu.

Investigators said that Potter was ordered to leave the bar because of an argument.

They say he backed his car into Paris and 59-year-old Tony Harrell, Senior, hen he drove the car forward over them.

Paris suffered four broken ribs, a fractured hip and a punctured lung.  Harrell was treated and released with minor hand injuries.
