COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The funeral services for a couple who died after driving off the Blossom Street Bridge Jan. 16 have been scheduled for Saturday.

An official with the Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home told WIS Thursday the service for Shannon Mickens, 40, will be held at 1 p.m. and the service for Denzil Whyatt, Jr., 35, will be at 3:30 p.m.

According to an online obituary, Mikens is a graduate of A.C. Flora High School. She attended Midlands Technical College after high school.

She leaves behind two daughters.

The funeral home also said the Mickens family is accepting donations for funeral expenses. If you'd like to donate, you can call Bostick-Tompkins at 803-254-2000 or visit the funeral home at 2930 Colonial Drive in Columbia.

Columbia police continue to piece together what happened before the SUV drove off a bridge and landed in the Congaree River.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said Mickens and Whyatt died from asphyxiation due to fresh water drowning.

Police are still investigating the events that led up to the incident.
