ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany man has been indicted for 11 counts of traffic violations, including serious injury by vehicle, after a woman was injured while he was running from police.

Quincy Smith is accused of leading Georgia State Patrol troopers on a high speed chase through the middle of Albany on May 30th.

Prosecutors say the chase ended at Slappey and Gillionville, when Smith ran through a red light and hit Charlotte Inman's car. Inman suffered a serious neck injury.

District Attorney Greg Edwards said he will seek the maximum sentence against Smith, to try to keep people from running from officers.

"Regardless of what his motive was, we're not going to tolerate this type of chase through populated areas inside the city," said Edwards.

No trial date for Smith has been set.
