COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

It was an exciting morning at Britt David Magnet School in Columbus as a new spelling champion was crowned.

There were some great spellers among the group, and 16 finalists who kept the audience "spellbound" till the very end.

The winning word was "lambasted." Neha Prabakaran won first place and Cade Hansen was the runner up. Both will move on to compete in the upcoming district wide spelling bee.

WTVM's own Barbara Gauthier was the announcer for this morning's bee. Congratulations to all the participants!
