ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Boxes upon boxes of bowls...blue, white, large and small, hundreds ready to be given out Monday morning for the 3rd annual Empty Bowl initiative. It's an event designed to remind people of hunger and empty bowls in the world. For Albany Arts Council Executive Director, Carol Hetzler, she hopes it will open the eyes of those in the community.

"Bringing awareness and dialogue and conversation is great, maybe it'll spring some people into action." Hetzler said.

She says they always look forward to the event because it gives them a chance to introduce people to something new, with artists coming in from Macon to Valdosta.

"We are able to expose the community to these beautiful potters, we are able to market and promote the arts culture here in Albany."

But it's also a way to spend quality time with neighbors, visitors donate, receive a meal and take home a bowl. @

"When you come in for lunch and everything, there are round tables and everybody sits together and talks and its just a very friendly environment."

Allowing visitors to walk out with empty bowls and full hearts.
