The annual hunting tradition Quail Albany has returned to the Good Life City.
The event got underway Wednesday with a golf tournament at Stonebridge Golf Club.
Around 60 competitors hit the links to kick off this year's event, and Quail Albany president Bill Bowles says one group made Wednesday very special.
"In the 60 players that are here, 28 of them are veterans that have been sponsored to play in this tournament by others, by local business, and business people, and friends in the Albany community," Bowles says. "That's awesome. What a great way to say thank you to them."
The real action begins Thursday with the Celebrity Sporting Clays Tournament at Flint River Skeet and Trap.
The first day of hunting gets going Friday morning.
Bowles says the event continues to be an important one for Albany.
"I think it's more important now than ever. I say that because of the fact that this event is here," Bowles says. "It stays here. It belongs here. This is the quail hunting capital of the world."
