AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Are you a veteran looking for a job? The new Walmart on Wrightsboro Road wants you to apply.

Walmart launched a program that offers priority access to open jobs for veterans who separated from active duty within the last 12 months. Walmart hopes to hire more than 100,000 veterans across the country in the next few years.

The new Walmart store on Wrightsboro road doesn't open until March 26, but they want veterans in Augusta to start applying now.

"I want to show them appreciation for what they've done for our country," said the Rodney Baker, the store manager. "Also, a lot of leadership skills come from veterans."

"We have already hired 13 in the new location," Baker said. "About 20 percent of people hired already have been veterans from right here in Augusta so its important for them to know that they have an opportunity to grow."

The Wrightsboro road Walmart is looking to hire more than 100 more employees before opening in March.

To apply you can click here to visit the application site for veterans.

Or you can call 888-537-1804 or visit the hiring center at 3351 Wrightsboro Road, Suite 206.
