THOMAS COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

Thomas County Drug Agents intercepted a major marijuana delivery from Texas. The agents put three people in jail and kept tens of thousands of dollars worth of pot off the streets of South Georgia, all thanks to a tip.

The stacks of marijuana are worth nearly $50,000 on the streets.

"The trooper began searching the vehicle and noticed two bundles wrapped in cellophane containing a large quantity of marijuana, concealed underneath the seat in the back of the vehicle," said drug agent Kevin Lee.

The agents received a tip that a Chevy Pickup would be traveling through. They quickly reached out to the Georgia state patrol for a hand.

At mile marker 16 on Georgia 319, officials were able to uncover the drugs being transported from Houston Texas, to a neighboring county. It was the stench of marijuana that let the troopers know, that they'd caught their guys and gal.

"When the trooper walked up to the driver side window, he could smell a strong odor of green marijuana coming from the vehicle," said Lee.

Sergio Gomez, Jose Corra, and Rosa Guadarrama were all charged with trafficking marijuana. A Thomasville business owner says, there's no telling how much harm those drugs could have caused if they had been sold in South Georgia.

"50K, that's a lot and I thank the police for all of their hard work and getting the drugs off of the streets, that could have done a lot of damage if they had not," said Annie Kelly, the owner of Ice 'N Creamy.

Kelly says that commitment to keeping the streets of Thomas County drug-free and safe gives her a sense of peace.

"When I open up my shop each day, I can feel safe because I know they are taking tips and acting fast on the tips," said Kelly.

Bad guys beware, citizens are watching, and law enforcement isn't wasting any time getting to the bottom of crime.

Agents impounded the truck and seized $4000. The suspects remain in the Thomas County Jail.
