Investigators are searching for clues related to a cold-case homicide with a connection to the lowcountry.

The body of an unidentified woman was found inside of a sleeping bag in a canal in Lee County, Florida, in October, 1995.  She was wearing a maroon smock with a label from the VA Medical Center in Charleston.  The sleeping bag had been tied and weighted, according to Cpl. Fred Bowie of Crimestoppers.

Crimestoppers has recently created flyers containing facts on the case, as well as a facial reconstruction of the woman, to place in the VA Medical Center and area homeless shelters.

Bowie says the hope is for someone to recognize the woman.  She stood about 5'3" tall and weighed about 115 pounds.  At the time of her death, she was estimated to be between the ages of 35 and 45.  Authorities say she also had a healed surgical scar on her head and ankle.

If you recognize the woman in the portrayal, you're asked to call Crimestoppers at (843) 554-1111.
