Vet discusses effects of pot on pets

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

There's a lot of talk lately about the effects of marijuana on people, but what about pets.

One South Georgia veterinarian says while marijuana can be toxic for pets, it's not a common problem.

"It's not a tasty plant, as far as I know, of course I believe that would be the only reason that a pet would try to ingest it, but we're not seeing a lot of cases," said Dr. Ward Mills of Thomasville Animal Hospital.

Dr. Mill's also says inhaling second-hand pot smoke could hurt a pet, depending on the animal's size.
