Cordele Police are looking for a gunman in a yellow sweatshirt caught on camera holding a Walmart employee at gunpoint and robbing the store.

Police are looking for this man in the yellow sweatshirt, wearing a black baseball cap and black gloves as he enters into the Walmart on East 16th Avenue Sunday night just before midnight. Police say he was in the store for several minutes posing as a customer.

"He stayed in Walmart for approximately 20 or 30 minutes walking around posing as a customer," said SSgt. Jeremy Taylor.

He's then seen here pulling out a gun as he approaches a store employee near the business office.

"At one point when he saw a female approaching the business office he forced at gun point the female employee into the business office where they keep the night deposits," said Taylor.

Moments later he's seen running out of the store as his hat flies off and falls to the ground. He picks it up and runs as a store employee chases him.  He got away with several bank bags with an undisclosed amount of money.  Police say the robber left the scene with someone in a mid-sized Sedan traveling East bound through the parking lot of Tractor Supply.

"There was definitely someone driving that vehicle we just don't have any kind of photos to tell you if it was a male or female, black or white," said Taylor.

Police say the female employee the robber approached is okay.

"She was assaulted but I don't know the extent of her injuries. He did grab her at one point which she tried to hit a button on the phone but I don't know the extent of the injuries according to the video she wasn't seriously hurt," said Taylor.

Police are going over the surveillance video and contacting other Walmarts to see if the robber may have gone into their stores.  Police hope that someone will notice the robber's clothing and his receding hairline and contact them with information.

No shots were fired in the armed robbery. Walmart officials say they are following store procedures to make sure another robbery doesn't happen again. If you recognize the robber in the video Cordele police ask that you call their anonymous hotline at 273-COPS. The investigation is ongoing and any information will be disseminated as it is discovered.
