ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Saturday members of an area sorority were downtown serving the homeless a special dinner in honor of the Martin Luther King Holiday.

Its part of The 2014 MLK Sunday Supper Forum put on by the Alpha Kappa Alpha Society at First United Methodist Church.

Monday is the national holiday honoring Dr. Martin King Jr. and his efforts. Saturday's theme was Embracing MLK's Legacy of Global Leadership and Timeless Service.

"We are a service organization and that's what we are all about. We have been here over a hundred years and we service all man kind so we are proving it today. We are gonna serve the community," says chapter president Gloria Roberts.

Several non-profits were also present at the church today, including Mission Change, and several health organizations.
