ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An engineer from Albany is expressing his love for Chehaw Wild Animal Park by writing books about their animals. It's way for children to learn more about animals and nature. Ritchey Marbury has written five books and has just released another.

Ritchey Marbury is an engineer by day, but also enjoys writing in his spare time. He's the author of six children books featuring Chehaw Park, and its animals.

"I think Chehaw is a wonderful place and more people ought to know about it. Children ought to know more about the animals and I thought I would do it to help children love animals," said Marbury.

Ritchey Marbury's love for Chehaw started in 1947 when he laying out the blueprint for the park. He says he always felt someone should write book about the animals.

Marbury's latest book about the Chehaw's Black Bear was released in January. He creates each book from start to finish, including all the research and pictures. Proceeds benefit Chehaw Park.

"They really support it and they realize I just love Chehaw Park, love animals, love children," said Marbury.

Marbury has no plans of slowing down, and plans to write more books.

"I try to do one every other month. The next one will probably be on the bobcat and then when the flamingos come out and then I want to do one on Ben's Barnyard," said Marbury.

He says writing these books are something he does for fun, and he hopes to inspire others when they read it.

"I had one teacher that told me they read the book and five of their students went to Chehaw the next weekend as a result of the book, so if that's the case, I'm accomplishing some of the goal," said Marbury.

His books have been sold in 10 countries.

You can purchase the e-book of Black Bear on Amazon for free until midnight. You can also purchase the book from Chehaw Park.
