Mission change preparing food bank for families in need
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
An Albany organization is working to help end hunger in our area.
Mission Change partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank, Saturday to help sort through food that's to be distributed to people in need. They checked expiration dates and seals, and got everything organized and boxed up. About 50 volunteers gathered to help out.
"If we didn't have places like the food bank and the organizations that they pass out to people, they would be desperate," said Ashley Griffin, Mission Change.
"It's great to see people giving up their Saturday morning sleeping in, just coming together working together. People building boxes, sorting through food. It's great to see people building relationships with one another while their serving people in our community," said Sarah Johnson, Mission Change.
Mission Change says this is a bi-annual event. Go to their Facebook page for updates on monthly service projects.
