THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Quite a scare at the Thomasville Farmers Market this afternoon when a truck hit a petroleum tank. Crews stopped the leak quickly, and no one was hurt.

The driver of the truck was backing away from a loading dock around 2pm, when his foot got caught on the accelerator. The truck backed into another vehicle, a utility pole and then the tank. Crews responded immediately and contained the situation.

"Upon arrival officers observed a white Chevrolet pick-up truck had struck a red in color Ford vehicle, and also went on to strike a propane tank, and a utility pole at the scene," said Lieutenant Eric Hampton.

No evacuations were ordered but onlookers we're urged to stay away from the scene as a safety precaution.
