Dougherty County students may get iPads

Dougherty County school leaders continue to work on a plan to provide iPads to all students. They discussed the idea at an Instructional Accountability Committee meeting.

Supporters say the iPad for every student proposal would set the school system apart and drive learning. "The whole idea is to prepare our kids to be successful in a global economy to compete and to equip them with the skills they will need to be successful moving forward," Dr. Ufot Inyang, Asst. Superintendent, Dougherty County Schools.

It's not clear when the proposal will go before the full school board or how the system would pay for it, but supporters hope to begin the iPad program next school year.
