TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

Peanuts, one of Georgia's biggest cash crops and Thursday morning people from all over will be flocking to UGA Tifton for the largest annual Peanut Farming Show ever.

"102 exhibitors and we anticipate with the weather and everything we are gonna have a good farmer crowd."

Visitors will be treated with a slew of door prizes, from gift cards and cash to flat screen TVs. Organizers say this year they are committed to making the farm show experience even better, but the prizes are just part of fun.

"I'm a people person and so my thing is the farmers," Executive Director of Georgia Peanut Commission Don Kohler shares. "I just love the opportunity to get there and see the farmers, to talk to them and find out what they need, what they're thinking and where their heart is right now."

The event will also give farmers a chance to participate in tours and educational seminars.

"It's not just gonna be for peanuts but for everyone, how do we grow it more efficiently and I think the short courses that we're going to have will address that very well," Farmer and Georgia Peanut Commission member Donald Chase said.

And for the 5th time in the span of 52 years, an award ceremony will take place to honor one fellow citizen into the Hall of Fame, another way of connecting people.

Chase continues, "The farming community itself is a tight knit community, so I can visit with the people from north Florida that I don't get to see often and it brings us all together and gives us a good time."

Growing relationships in the field.

Georgia Peanut Farm Show starts at 8:30 Thursday morning at the UGA Tifton campus, for more information:
