VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Even though Nashville is a small town, everybody doesn't literally know everybody. But there is one person that is well known, and well liked, by almost everyone in town.

His name is Silas. Silas used to spend most of his time walking around town and hanging out at the Shell station on Main Street. This past Christmas, some of the employees at the Shell station decided to give Silas a bicycle as a gift.

"It's well deserved. He does so much for us here at the Shell station and for everybody in town and he deserves it," said Stacy Rowe, an employee at the Shell station.

"I was happy; I didn't know what to say," said Silas, when asked how he reacted when he received the bike.

Since he received the bicycle, Silas has been pedaling around town every day. Rowe said he loved to stop everyone he met and show them the bike. But when Silas went to look for his bike on Tuesday morning, it was gone.

"It made me upset," Silas admitted.

That same morning, after learning that the bike had been stolen, the employees at the Shell station started asking customers to donate money to help buy Silas a new bike.

But that afternoon, a Nashville resident, who wished to remain anonymous, bought Silas a new bike.

Wendell Spells works at Martin Motors in Nashville and said he was contacted Tuesday afternoon by the resident. He was told that the bike was at a local store and had been paid for. All Spells had to do was pick it up and deliver it to Silas.

"When I got back from lunch at one o' clock, [the anonymous person] was on the phone. He told me to go to the local store here and pick it up and it would be in my name and it's paid for."

Spells says Silas was overjoyed when he delivered the new bicycle to him.

"What was his reaction when you brought him the bike?"

"Well, have you ever seen a child on Christmas morning? Tears, he was overjoyed," Spells explained.

The employees at the Shell station are using the money that was donated to buy gift cards for Silas to use at local restaurants.

Silas says he'll use them, but first...he's gonna' ride his new bicycle.
