Interested in saving wild animals of Georgia?

THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) -

Spaces are filling up quick for a class dedicated to teaching folks how to save wild animals.

Wild life lovers are encouraged to take part in the class beginning on February 8th held at Southwest Georgia Technical College in Thomasville from 8am to 5pm.

The class will feature The Georgia Wild Rescue Association, and a host of wildlife experts. They say the benefits of taking part in the class are endless.

"We look on the call list and we call a volunteer, send them to the area, where the animal is injured. Their job is to secure it and to safely transport it to a veterinarian or rehabilitation center," said class organizer Chet Powell.

"It's going to be a great time for my students to learn who the specialists are in different areas, in case they ever want to specialize in those areas," said Veterinary Technology faculty member Sharon Poitevint.

This is the third year that the class has been offered, as a part of the goal to expand the network of wildlife volunteers.
