ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany King Day Celebration Committee says their event next Monday is to ensure that Dr. King's dream is being kept alive.

The 2014 King Day Celebration will be held at the Albany Civic Center next Monday January 20th. Members on the committee are expecting more than 300 people to be in attendance. The Civic Center will sell $20 tickets until Tuesday January 14th.  Civil Rights Leader Xernona Clayton will be the guest speaker for the event.

"To hear life experiences of what they went through at the time with her and Dr. King and the rest of the individuals who worked during the Civil Rights era, I think it's just an awesome event not to miss," said Sheriff Kevin Sproule.

"I think the message that Ms. Clayton is going to bring is reinforcing Dr. King's dream," said Billie Robinson.

The 2014 King Day Celebration will start at 5:30 p.m. WALB will broadcast the event live at 7 p.m. On ABC.
