SMITHVILLE, GA -

It was long awaited perp walk. In handcuffs, 43-year-old Timothy Danue French was led to a Lee County Jail cell. For the daughters of the man he's accused of killing, it was a moment of celebration.

French made his first court appearance on murder charges Friday, after he was arrested that morning and charged with the murder of 82 year old A.J. Mosley.

Mosley was stabbed to death in his home January 15, 2008.

Even though the murder happened six years ago, his daughter never gave up hope that justice would be served. Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents didn't either, and always believed Mosley knew his killer.

"I truly believed in my heart from day one they were going to get who did this," said Mosley's daughter.

"Most people who stay in law enforcement for a while, they have one or two they get a hold [of], that they really want to solve, and this was one of them," said GBI Special Agent Bryan Smith.

Special Agent Smith spent years following leads in this case. Finally, enough evidence pointed investigators to French who had long been a person of interest.

"We've also obtained some physical evidence that indicates that Timothy French is responsible for this crime," said Agent Smith.

The GBI and Lee County deputies arrested French Friday morning as he walked down a Smithville street. Agents believe he robbed Mosley who tried desperately to fight off his killer.

According to the Georgia Department of Corrections Timothy Danue French has served four sentences in prison for non-violent crimes.

French is being held in the Lee County Jail charged with felony murder and armed robbery.
