VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -
One man is recovering after Lowndes County authorities say he was shot at the Liquor Barn on North Valdosta Road Thursday.
Deputies say they received a call that Jermaine Demps had been shot and was later located at the Flash Foods convenience store on North Valdosta Road. Two other people, Anthony Howell and Jacquil Sloan, were in the car with Demps at the time of the shooting.
"The group went to the Liquor Barn located on North Valdosta Road, and while they were there essentially a dispute erupted...we still don't know what the dispute was about," said Lt. Stryde Jones with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department.
Jones said the dispute resulted in the suspect firing multiple shots at the victim's car and then fleeing the scene in a dark colored SUV similar to a Chevrolet Suburban.
"Our victim was shot twice. Both were non-life threatening...one was in the leg and one was in the buttocks," Jones pointed out.
The suspect is described as a black male with shoulder length hair. The sheriff's department is working to obtain surveillance video from businesses in the area.
