BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Investigators have released more details on what started as a home invasion in Ascension Parish that turned into a high speed chase and a foot search for the suspects in East Baton Rouge Parish.

According to records from the Ascension Parish Detention Center, Alvin Lemon Jr., 32, of Watson, and Thomodrick Johnson, 21, of Baton Rouge, were arrested.

Deputies say around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, a homeowner called authorities after she heard a loud bang and male voices saying "open the door." The homeowner says that two black males were trying to break into the home by kicking in the door. A young girl screamed in the home and the two men went back to their vehicle and drove away.

The homeowner was able to provide a description of at least one of the suspects and the vehicle they left in.

Deputies spotted the white Ford Explorer going north on LA 73 near Dutchtown High School where they tried to pull the vehicle over. The suspect did not stop and a high speed pursuit began. The suspects drove to Baton Rouge where the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, Baton Rouge Police and Louisiana State Police joined the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office in the chase.

The chase ended near the intersection of Sherwood Forest Boulevard and Florida Boulevard where the suspects abandoned the Ford Explorer and started running. According to Ascension Parish Sheriff's Deputies, the two men in the vehicle jumped out of the moving vehicle and the vehicle crashed into a fence on Pamela Drive in Baton Rouge.

Deputies began chasing the suspects on foot and within about a minute, authorities captured Thomodrick Johnson. Johnson was found hiding behind a residence on Pamela Drive. According to The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, when deputies approached Johnson he began striking the deputy several times in the chest to attempt to escape deputies. Johnson told deputies that he was the passenger in the vehicle.

Not long after Johnson was captured, deputies located the second suspect, Alvin Lemon Jr., hiding in a nearby apartment.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's deputies charged Johnson with resisting an officer with force, home invasion, burglary, damage to property and trespassing. Lemon Jr. has been charged with home invasion, burglary, damage to property, trespassing, aggravated flight from officer, reckless operation of vehicle, and resisting an officer.

Both men are currently being held in the East Baton Rouge jail.
