ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Laurie Davis got a letter last week from Phoebe Putney Hospital. The letter says Phoebe learned on November 6th that a desktop computer containing private patient information was missing.

Phoebe sent WALB a statement Thursday saying Albany Police are investigating, but it stopped short of saying the computer was stolen.

That statement also says the compromised information includes social security numbers, but the letter only tells patients the computer contained "some of your personal information, including your name, address, date of birth, dates of service, physician's name, and diagnosis information."

Davis says she doesn't think Phoebe is taking this seriously enough.

"I want an explanation. I want to know why our information, our social security numbers all our information isn't protected better. You know, for being such a large hospital, I think they should have top notch security system for their computer systems," said Laurie Davis, victim.

Phoebe has not said from which clinic the computer disappeared or why it took two months to inform patients. We asked repeatedly for an interview from any Phoebe spokesperson and were told the only employee who could talk about this issue was not available.
