THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

More than 600 people have registered for Team Lean in Thomas County.

There is plenty to gain when you lose with the 7th annual 10 week weight loss competition put on by the Thomasville YMCA.

The program got underway on January 4th and it costs about $50, folks were able to register individually or with a group.

"It's a team based approach to weight loss, and there is a lot of statistics that show that people are more successful when they've got the support of team mates, when they go about trying lose weight, and so that's what this program is doing," said program coordinator Tom Everett.

The program has helped participants lose more than 75,000 pounds.

There are 15 weigh in sights in Thomas, Grady, and Mitchell Counties.
