As tax season approaches, tax
scammers are getting active.
They even targeted us.
received a scam e-mail this morning. It had a believable user
name making it seem like it was from the I-R-S.
But that is not the case and
an I-R-S spokesman wants to make it clear the tax agency won't contact you
electronically asking for your personal information.
"The most important
thing to remember is that the IRS does not, I repeat, does not initiate contact
with tax payers by: email, texts, social media, electronic communications, or
telephone to request personal or financial information," said Mark Green
If you do receive an email
that claims to be from the IRS, delete it immediately and call the IRS at their
toll free number at 1-800-908-4490.
