YMCA gears up for bootcamp event

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Area YMCA is gearing up for a new 8-week exercise and fitness program.

The workouts are short but high intensity for three days a week for 30 minutes. Participants will also get guidance on nutrition and learn more about portion control.

Trainers say people in all levels of fitness can participate and the bootcamp program can help people who are interested in weight loss stay on track.

"Biggest thing is they say I'm out of shape and overweight what can I do? And the nice thing about this program is you can be any size, any shape, and level of fitness and we will make it work for you and hopefully you will progress and get stronger and be able to perform at a higher level at the end," says Julie Michas, a YMCA fitness instructor.

The program starts January 27th.  The cost is 220 dollars for YMCA members and 300 dollars for non-members.
