ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Jury selection got underway Tuesday in the federal trial of a South Georgia mother and daughter charged with stealing thousands of dollars in tax refunds.

Kimberly Banks of Cordele and Gloria Jean Gordon of Ashburn are charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, wire fraud, and aggravated identity theft.

Prosecutors say in 2011 and 2012 the women used the names and social security numbers of other people to claim tax refunds of thousands of dollars.

If convicted the women could face up to ten years in prison.
