If you’re out and about today make sure you stay hydrated. Temperatures will feel much warmer than they really are. It's the hottest day of summer and South Georgians are beating the heat by staying cool at Turtle Park. More >>

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Hundreds of teachers and students will head back to class on Monday after a long holiday vacation.

Dougherty County police advise people, as they travel tomorrow morning, not speed and make sure you pay attention while driving.

They say a large number of accidents occur because drivers are distracted by others in the car, or talking on their cell phone.

"A lot of people will either be talking on the phone, talking to other people in the vehicle, anything, day dreaming even, can cause them an accident because they are not paying attention to driving. Our advise to most people is watch your speed and pay attention to what your doing," says Lt. M.J. Wood, with the Dougherty County Police.

Monday evening temperatures are expected to drop into the low teens.
