Retired Christmas trees donated to "Bring One for the Chipper"

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Saturday, folks brought out their recently retired Christmas trees to be donated to the "Bring One for the Chipper" event. The annual donation has been going on in Georgia for 20 years and is the largest tree recycling program in the country.

"Bring One for the Chipper" allows people to give away their used Christmas trees to be recycled into mulch. The mulch from the trees is then used by the city for parks and neighborhood beautification projects throughout Savannah.

The event was held at the Home Depot in Savannah.
