COLQUITT COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

Officer Chandler Giddes, with the Sylvester Police Department ,was injured in a car crash early Saturday morning, around 7:15,  in Colquitt County.

The GSP says the accident happened along the Sylvester highway between 31st Ave. and Woodmen Rd.

They say 21-year-old Giddes was driving his patrol car, and headed home when he hit the back of a truck, pulling a trailer. The man in the truck was not injured.

Lt. Tracy Jones, with the Sylvester Police Department, says Giddes was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, and is in critical condition.

This is a developing news story, and WALB News 10 will have more details as they become available.
